Carpet stain patches in Wellington, for marks that won't come out
Some stains aren't dirt, they're damage. Bleach, dye and mould change the carpet itself, so cleaning can't remove them. Cutting out the stained piece and patching it can.

Stains that need a patch
- Bleach and other chemical spills that have taken the colour out
- Hair dye, nail polish and ink
- Mould and pot-plant marks, where the underlay often needs replacing too
- Sun-faded patches
How a carpet stain patch is done
The stained area is cut out and replaced with a piece of matching carpet that you supply: a spare off-cut, or a small piece from inside a wardrobe or cupboard, which we fill with a plain off-cut. Where the stain has soaked through, the underlay beneath is cut out and replaced as well.
Be aware that carpet out in the room has faded and worn in a way a wardrobe piece hasn't, so a patch rarely matches exactly. It does replace a stain that won't go with carpet that is clean and sound.
Water damage
Water stains on carpet usually come from a leaking shower or bathroom, or from leaky-building problems. Fix the leak first. Once it is dry, the damaged carpet and underlay can be cut out and patched. We repair carpet; drying out a flooded floor is a job for a flood-restoration cleaner.

How our carpet repair process works
-
Tell us about the problem
Call us or fill in the form. If you can, send us a phone photo with a coin or your hand in it for scale. We give you a considered estimate, and if you're happy with it, you book a time for us to come to you.
-
We find a piece of your carpet
The patch has to be your own carpet. If you kept an off-cut when it was laid, we use that. If not, we take a small piece from inside a wardrobe or cupboard and fill that gap with a plain off-cut of ours.
-
We patch the damage
We cut out the damaged area and no more, fit your piece with the pile running the same way, and secure the join underneath.
Weighing it up?
Call us for a chat about the damage, or ask for an estimate and we'll tell you whether it's worth repairing.
Carpet stain questions
Can you clean away mould stains, for instance pot-plant marks?
No, it's best to cut out the damaged area, and possibly the affected underlay beneath, and patch in a replacement.
Do you do carpet cleaning?
No. We repair carpet. For a stain that cleaning can shift, a carpet cleaner is the right call. For colour damage that won't shift, patching is the answer.

Boyce is an absolute wizard, I really thought there was no way the damage in the carpet wouldn't lead to having to replace it entirely, but he worked magic with a small off cut and you can't even tell there was an issue in the first place. He's also really friendly and professional, I highly recommend him.

Repairing a carpet costs a fraction of a new carpet.
Re-carpeting a room means uplift, underlay, disposal and a new carpet that may not match the next room. A repair deals with the damaged area and no more.
We'll be honest about the result. Carpet that has been out in the room for years has faded and worn, so a patch rarely matches it perfectly. A good repair is a real improvement, far less noticeable than the damage, rather than a perfect match.
If a repair isn't the right call for your carpet, we'll tell you.
